Kingdom Hearts III - Chapter 1 by ~Jarda-Oliver:iconJarda-Oliver:

It was a strange night in the world of Twilight Town. Instead of being a calm, moonlit twilight, a rain storm had brewed and was heavily beating down on the city.
A blond boy gazed out the unusual night from his bedroom window.
“Yeah,” he said, his phone pressed to his ear. “it’s weird, huh Olette? I hope they don’t call off the Struggle Battle on tomorrow! There’s no way I’m gonna give up a chance to kick Seifer’s butt!  ….Aw, c’mon, Pence! Y’know I’m way better than that, Jerk-off! Your next Struggle Champion – Right her---” He was suddenly cut off from his conversation with his friends when the power flickered out. The blonde looked up at his bedroom light.
“Great. A black-out! First a storm, now this! What’s gonna be next?” He jumped as a crack of thunder and lightening lit up the room. He blinked, kneeling on his bed and staring out the window. He could have swore he saw someone outside for a moment there. Someone wearing black. The blond suddenly remembered the occurrences that happened a few months ago – Sora, Donald, Goofy, Kairi, they were looking for people in black. People from Organisation XIII. They  were the ones who kidnapped Kairi, made Sora lose all his memories and try to destroy everyone with the help of the Nobodies. His eyes widened and he quickly jumped to his feet. Grabbing a jacket the blond leaped over the mountain of clothes to the his bedroom doorway. As he tore open the door, he was stopped in his tracks by a dark figure. He stepped backwards.
“Hayner.” Spoke a voice from the shadow.
“What do you want with me?!” Hayner shouted, still edging away.
“I’m looking for some people. I thought you might be the one to help me out. Sora, Donald, Goofy and King Mickey. Where are they?”
“Why?! Why do you want them?!”
There was a sigh of frustration from the shadows.
“We can do this the easy way, or the hard way, Hayner.”
“How do you know my name?!” The black-cladded form started to advance towards the blond.
“Hayner,” the shape persisted. Darkness started to swirl within the room. Everything around the pair went black. “Just tell me where they are. I only want to talke with them.” Points of golden light started to shine from the darkness. Though they were golden in colour, something about them seemed cold… and nearly evil. Hayner searched for an escape route from the darkness, but failed to find one.
“I… I don’t know where they are!” They went to the other Twilight Town! But after that, I never saw them again!”
“Lying’s wrong, Hayner. You do know that?”
“But I don’t know…!!” Flashbacks danced across Hayner’s eyes. “Sora. He said something about an island! His island!”
The golden lights suddenly disappeared without a trace, along with the darkness. The room returned to it’s normal state. The power flickered back on and there wasn’t any sign of the threatening figure. The blond stood for a few moments, before hearing Olette and Pence’s voices over the phone.
“Hayner? Hayner? You there?”
“Maybe he went to get some ice-cream?” Hayner hurried over to his bed and picked up the phone.
“Hey guys, what was with that black-out a moment ago?” He asked, taking back his seat on his bed. The storm outside had strangely subsided. A confused sounding Olette was the one to respond the Hayner’s question.
“Black-out? What are you talking about, Hayner?”
“Yeah, man. Maybe you’ve been staying out too late…”

“I can’t believe how much we’ve been able to restore!” A black-haired ninja jumped around a cluttered house, happily. A brunette leaning against the wall opposite her, just stared.
“We’ve still got a long way to go yet, Yuffie. And with Merlin out seeing the king, it’s going to take a lot longer.” Yuffie stopped jumping and stared at him.
“C’mon, Leon. For a year and a half, I think we’ve done pretty damn good!” Another brunette in the room giggled, the pink bow in her hair bobbing slightly.
“She’s right, Leon. We have gotten a lot done.” She smiled.
“See! Even Aerith know I’m right, Squall!!” Leon let out a ‘hmph’ and shut his eyes.
A blond man sitting at a computer looked over at the three.
“You guys had better come see this!” he exclaimed. The three blinked and walked over to the computer.
“What’s up, Cid?” Yuffie asked, leaning on Cid’s shoulder. The blond didn’t need to say anything. The photos from the defence system explained everything.
The Heartless?!” Leon shouted.
“And the Nobodies?!” Yuffie continued. Images of Heartless and Nobodies plaguing the city had appeared on the screen.
“How’s that possible?? Sora defeated the Organisation.” Aerith inquired, a hand covering her mouth. Leon stared at Cid for a moment.
“’EY! Don’t blame me for this! I dunno what’s going on!” Cid exclaimed back at them.
Suddenly, a loud rumble shook the earth beneath their feet. Leon’s sword quickly appeared in his hand.
“Let’s go, Yuffie.” The ninja grinned.
“Alright! I haven’t seen any action in ages!” And with that, the two ran out of the disordered room.

Blue water rolled over soft yellow sand. The sun beat down on the green and yellow splashes of land called Destiny Islands. The azure seas of the islands normally brought fun and happiness into the lives of the teenagers living there. But today, the seas brought something different to the lives of three teenagers. A red-haired girl walked off the pier of the island that the teenagers ruled over. She looked out at the blue ocean. For so long, she’d just wanted to be re-united with her friends and for them to stay together. Riku and Sora meant everything to her. Last year, Sora and Riku had disappeared after their trip to the other worlds and she’d also forgotten all about Sora. But, a twist of fate and a little help from a man named Axel caused them to meet up again. And save the worlds from Organisation XIII.
The teen reminisced about their journeys, until a glint in the shallow water caught her eyes. She snapped herself from her daydream, looking over for the shining object. It was a bottle floating in the water, but. Contained inside the bottle was a letter. She stared at it for a moment before taking it from the water’s grasp. She exmined the bottle and tit’s contents. Printed on the letter in green ink was a large circle with two smaller circles attached to it at the top. The red-head’s eyes widened.
“The King’s seal…” she whispered. She looked up at the small island just off the shore that was connected to land via a bridge. Sitting on a bent-over palm tree were her friends – Sora and Riku. Without another though, she took off towards the island.

“Nothing’s really changed, huh?” spoke a silver-haired teen. A brunette nodded in response.
“Yeah. I expected everything to be so different when we got back.” They were silent for a moments, listening to the sounds of the waves roll into shore. “Hey Riku,” the silver-haired boy looked over, “remember that ‘door to the light’? How… How do you think that happened?”
Riku smiled, jumping down from the palm tree perch.
“It was because of this” he pointed to the brunette’s heart. The brunette blinked for a moment, before giving a smile and nodding.
“Sora! Riku!” A red-haired girl dressed in pink came running along the bridge connecting the dot of land to shore. Sora and Riku quickly turned to her.
“Kairi!” they both exclaimed. As Kairi approached, Sora took the initiative to ask what was going on. Kairi held out the message in a bottle.
“The king’s seal!!” both boys shouted, surprised. The brunette took the bottle and retrieved to bottle. The other two gathered around to read what it said.

Dear Sora, Riku and Kairi,

I’m very sorry to be interrupting you time together, but something terrible has happened. Heartless and Nobodies are appearing everywhere. I have sent Donald and Goofy with the gummi ship together you three immediately. Because it is too risky to say anything else in this letter, I will explain everything later at Disney Castle. Please hurry!

Regards,

King Mickey.

“Heartless and Nobodies? But… we beat Xemnas!” Sora said, bewildered. Riku nodded.
“That’s true, Sora. But we didn’t defeat Maleficent.” He bluntly replied.
“I bet it’s her doing then!” Kairi piped in. Sora looked up, his weapon – the Keyblade – appearing in his hand.
“Well, I guess we’ve just gotta show her who’s boss again, right?” He looked back at Kairi and Riku with a grin and they nodded in response.

“So, when do you think Donald and Goofy will get here?” the brunette inquired as they walked along the soft sand of Destiny Islands.
From the other side of the island, a loud crash broke the serene noises of the beach. The boys glanced at each other, competition in their eyes. Kairi sighed, but smiled.
“Looks like it’s a race to the other side of the island,” She said, “Three, two, one… GO!” At that lat word, the boys took off along the beach with Kairi trailing behind them. They ducked through the door, nearly getting stuck because they tried to go through at the same time. The best friends ran along the bridge, not forgetting to jump the dodgy plank. After arriving at the other side of the bridge, the found the source of the noise – a gummi ship crash landed near the palm trees.
There was a loud shout of frustration .
“I told you not to touch ANYTHING, Goofy!!”
“Gawsh. Sorry, Donald.”
A grin covered Sora’s face. He jumped down the hill to reunite  with his friends. A short duck wearing blue and a tall, green and yellow clothed dog emerged from the gummi ship – The Highwind. The brunette ran at them.
“Now, where’s--” Donald cut himself off when he saw Sora running at him and let out a squeal. Sora tackled the pair to the ground.
“Donald! Goofy!” The brunette laughed.
“Sora! It’s good to see you again!” Goofy spoke as he picked himself up from the tackle-hug. Kairi and Riku soon arrived.
“Hi Donal,. You too, Goofy.” Kairi said with a smile.
After the happy greetings, things got down to business.
“So, what’s going on? Why are the Heartless and Nobodies still appearing?” Riku asked, arms folded.
“That’s it. We don’t know why” Goofy answered with a shrug.
“The nobodies should be nearly gone because Organisation XIII isn’t together anymore,” Donald explained, “but there’s more than ever!” Sora nodded, remembering the events that had happened at the hands of the Organisation.
“We were thinking that maybe the reason the Heartless and Nobodies are still around is because of Maleficent” Kairi said, stepping forwards. Donald and Goofy nodded.
“I’m sure the king will explain everything when we get back to the castle.” Donald replied. Riku nodded.
“Right. Let’s go then.”
